We’d like to think healthy eating is a science, full of absolutes and hard-and-fast rules. That’s just not the case. Every body is individual, and even “experts” disagree on what’s good, what’s bad, and what’s downright tragic. For sure, there’s enormous value in the science of nutrition, and how food works in the body. But at its core, healthy eating is an art, a balance between science, personal experience and intuition.
The fact is, there’s more information on food, health and nutrition than you could read in a lifetime. So, at some point, you have to be your own expert. You have to be inspired by your intuition, your particular body’s wisdom, your passion for foods you love. All that knowledge is already in you; it’s just a matter of allowing it to emerge.
