Product Picks: a roundup of some of my favorite things
Pacific Foods Organic Free-range Chicken Stock. Okay, I know: a good chef is always supposed to make her own stock. But it’s not practical, and sometimes even the best of us pantry planners run out of necessities. This is my go-to stock for the days when I don’t have homemade. What I love: it’s organic and free-range, and the company follows green practices.
Pacific Foods Organic Almond Milk. Once again, I plead guilty: I don’t always make my own almond milk (well, usually I do, but sometimes we run out). This is what we use in my dairy-free family. What I love: it’s organic, and it has a clean, fresh taste without the strange metallic aftertaste I get from some almond milks.
Saffron Road Wasabi Chickpeas. These crunchy treats are a great alternative to high-carb snacks; they’re made from crunchy roasted chickpeas, and then tossed with wasabi powder. What I love: they’re just this side of blindingly hot, and completely free of grains.
Kasha Organic Simply Maize. I don’t eat cereal very often, but when I do, I’m a sucker for cornflakes. This variety has a little sweetness, and the flakes are thicker for lots of extra crunch. What I love: it’s organic and Non-GMO Project Verified, and the heartier flakes stand up to milk.
Earnest Eats Asian Blend Hot Cereal. I’m not a big hot cereal fan, but this one changed my mind. It has superfood grains, flax and cool stuff like mango and matcha green tea. Unfortunately, it’s not organic, but hopefully that’s their next step. What I love: it’s so different—and I love anything with green tea.
